Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events and family-friendly ideas in our newsletter. Click the links for all the details:
- Skate for (or on) the Lakes. Support the Clean Lakes Alliance all week skating at the Edgewater, Groove and Glide Friday, or see Frozen II before/during/after your skate for the "skate cinema" at Tenney park Saturday.
- Frozen Assets Festival. At the Edgewater Saturday, and come back Sunday for the iconic (and giant) kites on Mendota.
- UW Winter Carnival. Tons of free demonstrations, activities, and winter-themed fun on and off the lake Thursday-Sunday at the UW Memorial Union.
- Lunar New Year. Celebrate the year of the snake Saturday in Verona, or downtown with lion dance performances
- Mt. Horeb Scandehovian Winter Festival. Saturday/Sunday see kids games, snow sculptures, a fat tire bike race, partner carry race (always competitive/hilarious), a scavenger hunt and lots more.
