Top 5 Things to Do in Madison This Week: November 18, 2024

Coco, Shine On, Sunday happy hour and party, Paoli, escape rooms and more

By Aaron Seligman, MacaroniKID Madison publisher November 18, 2024

Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events in our newsletter. Click the links for all the details.

  1. Free day of the dead + concert. Saturday afternoon see (free) music, dance, and educational activities with the Madison library ahead of the Madison Symphony's COCO in concert (paid) at Overture.
  2. Downtown Tree Lighting. Also on Saturday on State Street, it's the start of "Shine On" and all the holiday fun downtown - get free cocoa, see santa, free lightup wands and of course the tree!
  3. Sunday (noon) Happy Hour and North Pole Party. At noon, the Parent Child Happy Hour at Garver offers crafts, food, and you can both see and participate in performances. Then at 3 head to Hilldale for the North Pole Party for more treats, performances, specials, and lighting.
  4. Seven Acre music and food. We loved Seven Acre Dairy this summer, and they've got plenty of fall/winter fun too. This week it's fondue dinners T/W/Th, plus a musical playdate Wednesday. And save the date for the Christlkindlmarket coming in December!
  5. North/east library specials - escape and puppets. Area libraries have so many fun+free activities, and this week Waunakee has a "sea monster" escape room for different age groups Thursday/Friday, and Sun Prairie mixes it up with a series of puppet theatre storytimes Tuesday-Saturday.
