Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events in our newsletter and on our calendar. Click the links for all the details.
- Mobile Madison Parks - MCM Roadshow and more. The Madison Parks Alive events all summer have activities and food to explore parks across the city, this week featuring two Mobile Madison events Elver Park Tuesday and Brittingham Park Thursday with the Madison Children's Museum Roadshow, a movie, art cart, and lots of hands on building and play activities.
- Explore State Street - and the Nigh Market. On Thursday walk along State Street and up the Capitol with tons of vendors, food, music, and of course samples. Plus, next Monday features the first of 5 "Kids on State" family-friendly events, which include arts, soccer with Forward Madison, and bike rodeos as part of the pedestrian mall experiment
- Bike for a cause - and Party. Saturday you can bike around lake Monona with fun stops along the way to support the Clean Lakes Alliance, and you'll go past Monona's TWO parties in parks with games, music, ice cream, and more at Schluter Beach and Grand Crossing parks. Plus, kids can Bike + Ride in the second Tri 4 Schools event at Warner Park (with distances for all ages) to support local schools
- Juneteenth. The official holiday isn't until the 19th, but Madison's celebration is Saturday at Penn Park featuring a parade and a kids area, and McFarland's is Sunday with a community meal, kids activities, and learning opportunities.
- Father's Day Fun. Sunday do a scavenger hunt with hot dogs and root beer to celebrate dads at Donald Park in Mt. Horeb, make a bird house at Warm Belly Farm (and check out their strawberry picking times)!, play games and BBQ at Wisco Kidz, and make a last minute gift with the Curious Crafter at Grace's Coffee Saturday in McFarland
And of course it's summer festival season - this week features the Cottage Grove Fireman's Festival, Monroe Balloon and Blues Rally, Sun Prairie Strawberry Fest, the Taste of Stoughton, and Pride Market
