This weekend all the July 4 festivities begin - see our full guide to make your Independence Day a blast (#dadjoke intended). There's still a lot to see before the holiday, including:

1.  Concerts! This week downtown has another Lakeside Kids show and Lunchtime Live Tuesday, and the summer's first Concerts on the Square Wednesday (which has a preshow kidzone).

2. Hilldale Hijinks. You can see the full description of Hilldale's summer activities for kids, including this Thursday's "hoops" movement performance, exploration, and games.

3. Final Friday fun head downtown midday Friday for kids play and crafts. Pro tip - a bus ride makes it a fun adventure, check the new city routes.

4. Evening Markets. Thursday in Sun Prairie, and Friday it's another Bodega at Breese Stevens Field

5. Full moon fun. Head to the arboretum for a full-moon hike Saturday (after the first "summer nights" series at Westmorland Park with music, food, and kid activities) , or paddle at Wingra next Monday
