St. Patricks, adventures in Spanish, rabbits, basketball, and more

By Aaron Seligman, MacaroniKID Madison publisher March 17, 2025

Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events and family-friendly ideas in our newsletter. This week, we're excited for:

  1. St. Patrick's Day. On Monday you can see Irish dancers free in McFarland or Fitchburg, and try our glitter slime recipe, or get a personalized letter from a leprechaun
  2. Velveteen Rabbit. At MyArts free on Thursday or Friday, from Children's Theater of Madison's touring company of 10-14 year olds!
  3. Adventures in Spanish. Thursday at the Children's Museum, it's a free night to celebrate the Spring Equinox with planting, a nature scavenger hunt, and flower crowns while learning Spanish.
  4. WIAA Basketball. The Badgers are at the big dance, but Thursday-Saturday at the Kohl Center, see the high school boys championship games - full of action and school spirit!
  5. Get outside - for all ages. Take the littles to explore the plant cycle at Horicon Marsh (Thurs), learn all about owls (Fri), and Saturday bigger kids can try archery, or the whole family can explore botanical dyes

What did we miss? You can add events to our calendar (it's free!) and contact us about promoting your event or organization.
