Indoor drop in play, outdoor winter fun

By Aaron Seligman, MacaroniKID Madison publisher January 6, 2025

Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events in our newsletter. Click the links for all the details.

Welcome back from holidays and breaks, and get into the winter routine this week with:

  1. Read in the rainforest. A new, free program weekly on Wednesday at Olbrich Gardens, stay warm, active, and explore with a story and scavenger hunt.
  2. Indoor playground. Another great drop-in option this winter - at MSCR East on Thursday, and West on Friday for indoor play and gym equipment, just $4/child.
  3. Groove and glide in a park.  Fridays this winter - each week at a different park. Bring your skates, or borrow a pair free and play under the lights, with music and games.
  4. Art after Overture. We love the free Kids in the Rotunda shows at Overture, and this Saturday has more to offer with free art/craft projects inspired by the show at the Central Library next door.
  5. Candlelight Walks. Bundle up and enjoy an evening hike by candleight Saturday at Warner Park east, Donald Park west.

Kids need fun experiences all year - our  experiences discount card  helps make them more affordable, and supports kids wellness through Tri 4 Schools!
