Top 5 Things to Do in Madison This Week: December 23, 2024

Early NYE, wondeweeks, hanukkah, and ways to take a break

By Aaron Seligman, MacaroniKID Madison publisher December 23, 2024

Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events in our newsletter. Click the links for all the details.

This wee the  holiday activities give way to winter break plans,  and highlights include:

  1. Early New Years. Not that you might be up until midnight anyway, but this week you can join early NYE events for kids  Saturday at Pinney library and Sunday at Garver (part of their full week of drop in/drop off programs and activities!)  - and see our guide with plenty more for next week to close out 2024.
  2. Wonderweeks. The Madison Children's Museum has unique activities each day during the week - it's a great chance to use your MacaroniKID discount card for two BOGO entries!
  3. Library explorations. Winter break is a great time to explore a new library - especially when they've got a new program to try. Join a Grinch Storytime Monday at Meadowridge,  paint Thursday in Verona, join the family escape room Friday in Middleton, and Monday/Fri/Sat in Monona (and win a prize for their winter reading bingo). Plus check out the We Read winter program for more ideas.
  4. So much fannukah. Hanukkah starts late this year on the night of the 25, and you can celebrate with the community to benefit pet rescue Saturday, Sunday morning at Camp Shalom and for an evening menorah lighting at Hilldale.
  5. Take a break - enjoy the (hopefully) slower pace to try a homemade craft gift or project ( we love the Curious Crafter for supplies and DIY kits - and we've got your discount!), or try some ideas for a day "off"

The family fun continues all year with our  experiences discount card  - makes a great and easy gift, and supports kids wellness through Tri 4 Schools!

What did we miss? You can add events to our calendar (it's free!) and contact us about promoting your event or organization.
