Top 5 Things to Do in Madison This Week: October 28, 2024

Halloween, early vote, last farms, lighted hikes, and Day of the Dead

By Aaron Seligman, MacaroniKID Madison publisher October 28, 2024

Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events in our newsletter. Click the links for all the details.

  1.  Halloween week. There are so many local celebrations (in addition to general trick or treating). So check them, including our favorites at the Downtown Family Halloween Wednesday, Kindermusic and Play N Wisconsin Thursday morning, and the Children's Musuem has something  for babies Tuesday and a sensory-friendly celebration Friday.
  2. Day of the Dead. Don't just re-watch CoCo, learn about this holiday and see an alter and art exhibit in McFarland Friday, dance show Saturday/Sunday at MyArts
  3. Light up hikes. It's peak time for fall colors during the day, and evenings are a magical time too - with a luminary hike at the Lussier Center Wednesday, and candlelight hikes with bonfires Saturday in Oregon and just north in Poynette
  4. Last week of fall farms. One of our favorite times of the year is ending - but there's still time to check out a fall farm before they finish up after this weekend!
  5. Early Vote. Voting early is a great way to save yourself a longer line on Election Day, and bring the kids - especially since you can do it at so many local libraries in Madison - see locations/hours and around Dane County.

Plus you can support our Forward FC soccer team in their first-ever playoff game Saturday, and get ready for great resources at next week's JBF sale and 9in9out expo

What did we miss? You can add events to our calendar (it's free!) and contact us about promoting your event or organization.
