Free UW sports, overture shows, gallery night, more fall fests and hikes

Every week, Macaroni KID Madison highlights free/low-cost ideas to do with kids in the Madison area in addition to the events in our newsletter. Click the links for all the details. 

This week we've got a lot of free fun, including:

  1. Free UW Sports. Football is back with a free family tailgate Saturday, plus men's (Tuesday/Friday) and women's soccer (Sunday) have free games with family activities and themes.
  2. Free Overture shows. Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra's Family series with a narrated show and chance to play with instruments Sunday, and Saturday Kids in the Rotunda returns with Black Star Drum Line to start the packed 2024-25 season
  3. Fall Fests (part 2). Fall-theme festivals continue Saturday at Troy gardens, Mt. Horeb, Middleton's driftless trails, and in Paoli in addition to all the fun at area farms and orchards.
  4. Gallery Night. Friday night head out around town for MMOCA's gallery night to your favorite spots - or try a new neighborhood to explore!
  5. Fall hikes. We're a few weeks from peak colors in the Madison area, but the weather is great for a family hike -- head to Blue Mounds Saturday night for a candlelight hike. or nature-led adventures Sunday morning and see our fall colors guide for more ideas.
