Recycle by reselling. Save some green while being green.

Help the planet while saving money at huge children’s consignment event November 2-4

You know that shirt you have on right now?

After you wear it about seven times, you’ll probably throw it out. The EPA says each one of us throws away about 100 pounds of clothes every year. Nationwide, that’s about 2,150 pieces of clothing every second. That waste is responsible for nearly 10% of global carbon emissions, more than all international flights and maritime shipping combined. There is something you can do to help fight back and one Dane County mom is leading the way.

Kristen Parent helps people recycle their children’s clothes by reselling them at a huge consignment event happening November 2-4 at The Tributary Hub. It’s called Just Between Friends (JBF). Families can make some green by being green. Parents can help the planet, make money if they consign, and save up to 90% on everything their kids need. Plus, recycling 2.3 million tons of clothing every year is equal to taking 1.3 million cars off the road.

“If you really stop and think about what happens to our clothes once we’re done with them, it’s shocking. Ultimately, those clothes become a huge waste problem, ranking just under food and cardboard waste. Since kids grow, and outgrow their clothes so fast, parents can make a big impact by recycling through JBF. Also, at JBF, nothing gets thrown away. Most of our sellers choose to donate their unsold items so we invite foster parents in Minnesota to take what they need for their kids – for free – including clothing, toys, books and other essentials for babies and kids,” says Kristen Parent, sale organizer.

With the inflation rate higher than the long-term average, groceries, gas, rent, and electricity are still more expensive than they used to be. That’s why sales like these are critical for parents and also good for the earth.

About Just Between Friends

Just Between Friends (JBF) is North America’s largest and leading children’s and maternity pop-up consignment sales event and is the only franchise in this vertical to employ an industry-leading safety and recall expert.

What began as a sale between a few mom friends, including former CEO, Co-Founder, and Brand Ambassador Shannon Wilburn in 1997, has grown into a nationwide phenomenon with more than 150 franchises in 33 states. In 2022 alone, 300+ events grossed nearly $42 million in sales and put $26.8 million back into local economies and in the hands of parents.

Just Between Friends hosts community events twice a year where local families can sell the things their children are no longer using. The 3-4 day event allows other parents to say “yes” to everything their kids need for the next two seasons at 50-90% below retail. It's a win-win for both families. The family selling clears the clutter of their home and creates a new revenue stream. The family who is shopping saves thousands of dollars by not purchasing new items. Plus it’s good for the environment keeping items out of landfills by rehoming approximately 20,000 items per event.
