See Memorial Day parades and activities TODAY in Cambridge, Monona, McFarland, and Cross Plains. Then, the unofficial start to summer is SO full of events, here are 5 themes to help plan your week:

1. Get festive. If it's summer in Madison, there's a festival near you. Try Mingo Mania on the Isthmus Thursday,  Verona hometown days or Festa Italia in Fitchburg all weekend, and Dragon Art Saturday in Waunakee.

2. Get cultured. Do some tie-dye for the Boys&Girls club Thursday, hear live music outside at the Children's Museum Friday, see the  free family opera day (with yoga and art) Saturday, and family movie night Sunday at Wisconsin Brewing Co.

3. Take pride. Say goodbye to APIA heritage month with Hmong Days downtown Tuesday, and welcome pride month with a bike ride with decorations and a block party Saturday - plus the ride is a great way to start  Madison Bike Week with all kinds of meetups and freebies (June 3-10).

4. Appreciate Madison's outdoors. Friday get on a boat with a Burger or with food/music/games, celebrate trails with snacks and activities Saturday, and kids can learn to row Saturday, or fish Sat. and Sunday.

5. See something big. Saturday see Cows on the Course (next to the farmer's market - also amazing grilled cheeses and games), then Sunday head to Waunakee for some Big Rigs or animals (and free rides!) at the zoo for family fun days.
